Spotted2

spotted towhee2

A Spotted Towhee was first in the birdbath, just minutes after the bath was cleaned and refilled.

The camera I used has the ability to automatically locate and hold the eye in focus (animals and people). If the bird moves, the focus remains on the eye.

I find this particularly useful in moving subjects and close subjects (where the very shallow depth of focus of a ‘telephoto lens’ has to be exact).

The shallow focus of the main subject means both the foreground and background will be ‘soft’ which helps put all the attention on the bird in this example.
