I hadn’t seen a bird like this in our area, but apparently it is likely a Swamp Sparrow.

On a related note, I thought there were very few birds around this spring. Wrong.
Have you heard of the phone app ‘Merlin Bird ID‘? Among many other things, it helps you identify birds by sound or by photo. Yesterday on our street near the entrance to the trail, I heard some birds and opened the Merlin app. Within a few seconds this was the list of identified birds singing nearby.
