This is a photo of the Saltspring’s Library shortly after it opened in late December 2012. During a ‘photo walk’, it’s good to keep an open mind and constantly look for something new or unexpected to photograph. This frozen snow/ice puddle caught my eye and I still think it is a strong photo because it is an unusual and—perhaps unique look at the library.

Notes for the image above:

This high school student just happened to be in the library when I was working on some interior photos.

She was keen to help me with an idea I had for an interior photo in the Library entrance. And she was also a GISPA dancer so we were able to do the above image with one take. (background lobby artwork is by Salt Spring artist, Ron Crawford).

But first, Aina just had a book to check out.
