Leaf

leaf stuck on a window ©johncameron.ca

What you are looking at is a wet leaf stuck on a window. I originally heard it splat against the kitchen window, then saw it, from inside the house looking out. But I liked the image more when shot from outside looking in.

Wind, swirling around the corner of the house, had slapped the leaf onto a wet window. The red colour on the left is a reflection of a large Japanese Maple in the garden. The green at the bottom of the image is a reflection of ferns. The crosshatch pattern is from the window screen (inside the house). And the light area behind the leaf is a view though the house and out a front window.

The above image was originally posted on saltspringphotos.com.
The scene was not manipulated in any way. No modification was made to the existing light.

Two more leaves:

Another day, another leaf stuck during a storm—this one got itself trapped somehow, upright between the 2×6 boards on our front deck (with house siding behind). I just had to go back in the house and grab the Canon 1D X and macro lens.

Found this colourful one on a trail during our morning dog walk. The studio in our house was set up with lighting and a white background, so this was an easy shot.

I like all these shots for a variety of reasons, but am showing them here as examples of having a camera nearby and just taking a minute to create a photo.
