Gulf Islands Secondary School in Ganges on Salt Spring Island opened for students in September, 1994.

The upper playing field and gym. The school was built with ground source piping under both the upper and lower playing fields for climate control in the buildings—and with fibre optic wiring in the school. Solar panels were added in 2014, and the dollar amount realized each year from energy sold to BC Hydro funds an annual secondary scholarship in the solar area.
