Frost

Frozen everything, a detail shot. ©johncameron.ca

When there’s a change in weather, there is often an opportunity to create something special. I headed into work early in hopes of creating a frosty photo or two along the way.

A bay in this lake froze overnight and frost had formed everywhere. I decided everything in the image needed to be crisp. I used the settings below:

technical: Leica M, 35mm, f/16, 1 sec, aperture priority, tripod.
Leica optics are outstanding, regularly providing fabulous detail across an image, even at f/16. Everything is in sharp focus in this image.

(We had Whitewall create a large ‘ultraHD Photo Print Under Acrylic Glass’ of this image and hung it just inside the entrance to our home.)

And this frosty image was shot for the cover of a brochure promoting Salt Spring Island. Sometimes you need to provide your customer or designer lots of space in your image for a title or other text.
