Even a small town like Ganges can have a fireworks display. Most years we watched the display from our boat in the harbour. But this image was shot from the lawns at Hastings House looking towards downtown Ganges.
Note: One way to shoot fireworks with a camera is to set your sturdy tripod up (where no one will step in front of the lens) and use a remote trigger to start each exposure. Also set the length of the exposure so that you capture multiple ‘starbursts’ (4 seconds in this example shot). And set the ISO (see: what is ISO) so that the background remains dark.
Technical: Canon EOS 1D Mark IV , ISO 200, 4 sec, 24-70mm zoom lens at 43mm, tripod, remote trigger so you can watch the sky and start the image capture at the right moment..without touching the camera.
Break: johncameron.ca will be taking a break…I expect to publish the next post on or about January 2, 2025.
