The image above was made using an old Canon ‘macro’ lens (designed for close-up photography, capable of reproducing subjects at a 1:1 magnification ratio or greater).

It did a good job focusing so close to the branch that the forest behind was rendered completely out of focus (with no trees showing so that an overall light brown colour remains).

A distracting branch in the foreground was removed later using computer software.
