This Saanich gem provides views in all directions from a variety of lookouts. It’s a pleasant climb filled with spring flowers and Gary Oaks.
Several of the trails hint that you are approaching a lookout and then suddenly an expansive view is revealed.
The top image is one of these views; this one looks over Victoria and towards Juan de Fuca Straight and the Olympic Mountains.
Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary has recently been designated a Key Biodiversity Area.
We are really excited about the Key Biodiversity Area status for Christmas Hill by the KBA Canada Coalition. Christmas Hill is an incredible natural space and the special status recognizes it as a global hotspot for biodiversity. I want to acknowledge the significant conservation efforts from countless individuals over the years to protect and preserve Christmas Hill. We look forward to continuing to work with the Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary to conserve this truly amazing space in the heart of Saanich.
