Western Vancouver Island near Tofino. These two images were taken on the same day.
The top photo shows a new Canadian Coast Guard boat at the time and I believe it was doing trials or training. And yes there were crew at the wheel: outside and wearing helmets. The boat rolled and disappeared before righting itself. A very windy afternoon and great fun to observe…from the safety of the shore.
The second photo was taken in the evening after the wind died down and the fog rolled in. Being the last person of the day on this beach is an exquisite experience.
