Art Show

Wandering through an art show with a wide variety of pieces, I took a few quick shots for a local newspaper. This one showed a fabric piece with a painting in the background.

I felt that shooting the hanging fabric piece with just white wall behind would look like the image was shot in a photo studio. Instead, moving a few steps to one side to add the painting in the background now said ‘art show’.

I chose my favourite portrait lens which allowed me to blur the painting and allow the fabric piece to be the ‘hero’ in this image.

Technical: Canon 1DX with 85mm f/1.2L II lens, ISO 100, shutter 1/100 sec, aperture f/1.2 (for very limited depth of focus), handheld.
