Gulf Islands School of Performing Arts (GISPA) is seen here on the ArtSpring Theatre stage. Director, and GISPA teacher Jason Donaldson actually liked to have me on the stage with the actors during final/dress rehearsal… I had one chance to get quality images during the fast moving rehearsal. This allowed me to get very close to the action, choose my point of view, and sometimes—as below— get within a couple of feet of the action.
The students learned to focus completely on their role and ignore all distractions.
Technical: Leica M, ISO 3200, 1/180 sec, 75mm
Reminder: Some images can be enlarged for more detail (most useful on larger screens. Move your cursor over the images below and click when you see the ‘plus sign’.)

This was a performer portrait test shot with the wrought iron gate (prop) and magic dust…and below, a test with harsh lighting (see catch lights in the eyes to see where the lights were placed).
Both photos were taken in a classroom at Gulf Island Secondary School with a black background and studio lights.
