A foggy fall day on Sunset Drive, Salt Spring Island,BC
I’ve seen this tree many times in all kinds of weather, at different times of the day—and different times of the year—with and without people or deer. The tree as the main subject is lacking its magnificent foliage and it is placed dead enter in the image (something you are often reminded not to do). The regulars are not flying remote control aircraft. The hills of Channel Ridge are not visible in the fog. The farm is dormant at this time of year.
And yet for me at least, the detail, composition, and lack of colour speak volumes. All things to think about when deciding to make a photograph…or not.
