This photo looking into the mouth of the tunnel was updated with a better image taken December 5, 2023. It turns out an overcast drizzly morning was much better than a contrasty afternoon (when using a modern phone).
The tunnel goes under the Pat Bay Highway (Hwy 17) near Royal Oak Drive.
This makes for a short walk or bike ride from one shopping centre to the other. So if Thrifty Foods has nothing but green bananas you can pop over to Country Grocer and try your luck.
Returning with your yellow bananas, this is the approach to the tunnel, with vehicles streaking by on the freeway overhead.
