A great old Douglas Fir on our street is no more. About 100 feet tall and a metre in diameter near the bottom, this tree had become dangerous to the road and houses nearby.
A Saanich note said:
“THIS TREE WILL BE REMOVED FOR: Poor structural condition (basal decay) and due to impact of service installation in its protected root zone the roots had been damaged when the sewers went in.“
I counted 122 yearly growth rings…and several large black ants.
