International One Metre at SISC ©johncameron.ca

Sailboats use the power of the wind acting on sails to move. These International One Meter model sailboats do the same. Each boat’s sails and rudder are typically controlled by a radio transmitter in the hands of its operator and a corresponding receiver in the boat. (source: rcsails.com)

The image above is a typical International One Meter boat in the hands of its sailor at an international competition at the Salt Spring Island Sailing Club.

And below is an image from a heat on that pretty summer day showing the close racing by the keen sailors on the club breakwater.

Later that year, on a dark and very windy day, Martin from SISC agreed to meet me on the breakwater to capture some images of one of the boats he was building. There was some epic IOM sailing this day!
