Botany Bay and Botanical Beach are both wonderful places to visit at a zero tide on a summer day—though at times they can get quite busy.
For a change of pace, try a short walk, about one km south from Botany Bay along the north-west end of the forested Juan de Fuca Marine Trail (BC Parks Map) to Thomas Baird Creek and Beach.
In three low-tide visits to Thomas Baird Beach, I did not see another person.
Digital photography and large screens makes comparing colour and black&white versions of an image simple.
(The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail between Botany Bay and Thomas Baird Creek has boardwalk sections, ocean glimpses, and a beautiful mature coastal forest.)
