Masters

I had the opportunity to photograph a great many homes for Sotheby’s Realty on Saltspring Island. This private rancher was one of my top twenty favourites.

Apart from the stunning 180º view over Ganges, the ocean, lakes and mountains, the home’s unique feature was that it had two large master bedrooms—one at each end of the home . Each has a lovely ensuite bath and an enormous walk-in closet with full laundry.

Technical: photographing this level of home requires a “tilt-shift” lens, one that captures the full width and height of the rooms. Most importantly, it also allows the photographer to display everything with the correct perspective and clarity. Except for the sunrise image here, a special 17mm Canon tilt-shift lens was used with a large and stable, carbon fibre tripod.
